1 Samuel 17:33-37
August 31, 2006 by PastorDave.
How do you face the “giants” in your life? You know…those things that intimidate you and try to overwhelm you and coerce you into backing down…giving up. You remember David and Goliath, right? That was a story from God to teach us all some principles on how to face “giants” and overcome them.
Here’s one of them… 1 Samuel 17:33-37
Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”
One reason David knew he could take on Goliath was because he had history…history with God. Here’s the principle… God’s past faithfulness in our lives should encourage us to take more steps of faith.
You think about that!
Blessings,
Pastor Dave/Dad

John 14:16-26
August 30, 2006 by PastorDave.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will ben in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. ”All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2 Peter 1:5-8

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Truly excellent character is actually a reflection of the moral nature of God Himself. For that reason, all the virtues are interdependent and closely related. And all of them are the fruit of God’s grace.” ~ John MacArthur, from “The Quest for Character” So…like Peter says…make every effort! Blessings, Pastor Dave/DadPosted in VOD | Print | No Comments »

Good morning, friends! As you go out into the world today remember…
27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
